I'm currently working on my 6th year working as an IT Support Specialist. Back in my first year at my internship, I was extremely attracted to one of the other interns. One day I'm sitting there plugging away at my work, when I hear this woman, on speaker phone at someone else's desk, complaining about my crush's professionalism during a recent service

request, and she didn't know what she was doing (even though she fixed the problem). My coworker with whom she was on the phone, heard me stand up and quickly interrupted her saying, "I'll call you back" and hung up. I quickly asked, "Who was that? She must've known she was on speaker phone despite acting like such a

." My co-worker showed me the woman's company photo and told me her name. I said calmly, "Send all of her helpdesk tickets to me." For the remaining 3 months I worked in this seasonal position, every morning as soon as I got to work, I opened up Active Directory.

I brought up her account and I checked one simple box. "User must change password at next login." By week 2 she was losing her mind, and I kept playing dumb. Telling her I didn't know why it was happening and ensuring her I was hard at work trying desperately to fix this problem.

My Director thought this was the funniest he'd ever seen. I got glowing letters of recommendation from several colleagues, including him. So don't think complaining to higher ups will get you anywhere; we take care of our own.

In the end, this didn't help me sway favor with the young lady I was interested in, but I got a great story out of it and furthered my career in the process.

TL;DR - Someone was to a girl I liked, so I forced a reset of their network password every day for 3 straight months and the entire IT department had my back.

itsa_Lexplay Password resets are even funnier when they cant ever use any previous passwords. Was that the case here?

little_beanpole As soon as you work in any organisation with an IT department you learn not to them off. I'm always nice to the IT guys and my computer issues get fixed much faster than those of my co- workers who are

bedblanket I love the IT-themed petty revenges the best. An IT guy can seriously do some damage

math_rand_dude I hope you didn't forget to ask her if she tried turning it off and on again?

soonerpgh I worked IT for the state for several years. Shortly after I started our department won some sort of award. Folks from another department on the same floor as us thought it would be funny to steal our award plaque and hold it for ransom. Ok, wanna play? Fine!

We set up a camera and caught them within a day. I then created a variety of scripts that we could push onto their computers. That unit went through two weeks of their dvd drives randomly opening and closing, their cursor jumping all over their screen, screens going black when they moved their mouse, and several other harmless but

squirrelyb Dude. Respect. My husband is an IT guy, & i get it. You did a really great thing. Simplicity is the watchword. Match point.

fearswe While I would love to do that to some of our annoying customers, at my work it would be quickly linked to me and it would be grounds for termination. Due to the risk of losing that customer.

YObogoya OP Yeah, this was a special case. I've worked at 3 other companies since then and wouldn't dream of doing this at any of them.
